Brain Tumours
There are many different types of tumours that can arise in or around the brain, some of which are readily treatable and curable, while others may not necessarily respond well to treatment. Education about the type of tumour is key and we will do whatever we can to make sure that you understand your diagnosis and your options for treatment.
Our neurosurgeons have extensive experience in treating brain tumours in both children and adults and have access to advanced surgical technology to support safe and effective procedures.
Our practice nurse and support staff work together to support your needs to ensure your recovery is managed with care and compassion.

Acoustic Neuromas (Vestibular Schwannomas) and Pituitary Tumours
The management of vestibular schwannomas and pituitary tumours is highly specialised and often involves a team-based approach between neurosurgeons and ENT skull base surgeons. Brisbane Clinical Neuroscience Centre (BCNC) is the leading private centre for management of these tumours in Queensland, with many of our surgeons having travelled across the world to enhance their skills and expertise.
Drs Amato, Papacostas and Davis lead our vestibular schwannoma management team and work in close collaboration with our ENT skull base specialists.
Our practice currently performs the greatest number of surgical procedures for vestibular schwannomas in Queensland, and we are ideally placed to provide for your needs.
Pituitary Tumour Surgery
Our pituitary tumour team uses the latest endoscopic techniques to support surgical precision and recovery. Multidisciplinary case meetings are held regularly, involving radiology, endocrinology, neurosurgery, and ENT specialists, to discuss treatment options.

Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hemifacial Spasm
Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hemifacial Spasm are types of microvascular compression syndromes, caused by an artery pressing against a nerve in an area of the head called the cerebellopontine angle. Although these conditions are benign, they can be disabling for those affected.
Surgery offers the prospect of cure for patients who cannot tolerate first-line therapies such as medication or (in the case of hemifacial spasm) injections. There are various surgical approaches that can help to manage these conditions and our surgeons can provide you with all the options. Surgery in this area of the brain is highly complex and delicate and should only be performed by experienced surgeons who undertake these types of procedures regularly.
There are many similarities between the management of other diseases of the cerebellopontine angle (such as acoustic neuromas) and microvascular compression syndromes, and our surgeons are highly skilled and experienced to do so.
