Dr Alex Kao is a Consultant Neurologist and subspecialist Epileptologist at the Brisbane Clinical Neurosciences Centre.
Dr Kao completed his medical degree at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He completed his basic physician training and Neurology training at Wellington Hospital (New Zealand). His special interest in EEG and the evaluation and management of epilepsy led to his move to Brisbane. Dr Kao undertook further subspeciality training with an epilepsy fellowship with the Mater Epilepsy Unit at Mater Hospital, followed by a second epilepsy fellowship with the Queensland Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
In addition to his private practice, Dr Kao currently holds a public appointment as a Staff Specialist Neurologist with the Mater Epilepsy Unit, involved in the advanced comprehensive multidisciplinary care and assessment of patients with drug-refractory epilepsy across Queensland.
